Photos that inspire me

Carnelians are my favorite crystal. The colour is very pretty and I love how they stand out in any collection. The carnelian is symbolized to be a stone that grounds someone in the present and reduces anxiety. Whether or not you like to believe in those meanings, the carnelian is still a very pretty stone.

When I was young, I  loved to play board games. My twin brother, however, would never play them with me. One day, my father bought me a Disney princess card deck for a holiday. That was the day he taught me my very first card game, Go Fish. Today, I do not remember how to play Go Fish anymore. My card game of choice is spades. It's a very simple game to learn and play. Every year during Christmas, our family plays a large game of spades together. No matter how good you are at something, there is always luck involved.

My very first video game console was the Gameboy Advance Sp. I loved it to death. It was a gift from my older brother, and that gift came with my all-time favorite Pokemon game to this day:  Pokemon Ruby. I played that game so many times, I know it's mechanics like the back of my hand.

We had cable growing up, but I preferred rewatching my favorite movies every night before bed. I had a VHS player, and a handful of cartoons and movies to go with it. I had a lot of the older Pokemon movies, but my favorite movie to watch was The Little Mermaid 2. While the movie is rarely spoken about, I'll never forget it. I knew all of the dialog from memory. I watched this movie every single night for years. Despite that, I can no longer recall a single thing about the movie.

Elephants are my favorite animal. They're known for representing loyalty and wisdom. I love how such a large animal is represented to be so gentle. Elephants are the centerpiece of many different cultures and ideals, but I just like them because they're pretty.

1st Post

My name is Ava Isbell, and I am a 17 year old business major at  Bethel University. I am minoring in information technologies and I am currently a freshman. This is my first time being on campus, I graduated high school in December and started college a few weeks later. Admittedly I am very nervous about college, but most of my anxieties have died down as I learned more about what I would be doing this semester. In high school, I was in the marching band. I have played the trumpet for 6 years, and while I loved every season of marching band, I have no intentions of playing my instrument again. I like to draw and am fairly familiar with gimp. While I have not utilized the photo editing part of gimp, I have used it to draw in the past. I have not drawn much recently, but I  hope to learn how to improve with the technicalities of computer art.

I have admittedly childish interests. I love watching older cartoons and I love 80's rock. I collect playing cards and other trinkets. I like to play video games. I competed in a Smash Brothers tournament around the time of its release on Switch. I placed 3rd, losing to my brothers. I tend to like playing simpler games, such as the Sonic Adventure games and the older Pokemon games. Because I play simple games like those, I like to challenge myself to complete them 100%. This gives me a drive to continue to play my favorite games when after I had beaten the main story.  I like to mod old Nintendo consoles, I have a modded  2ds and I am in the process of modding my Wii. I like to break past the limits of the older technology and unlock the full potential of these game consoles. When I graduate, I want to pursue a career in cybersecurity. I love testing the limits of technology. I am also interested in coding. In high school, I learned basic HTML but not much beyond that.

About Me

My name is Ava Isbell and I am a freshman here at Bethel University. I major in business and I have decided to take this computer art course because I thoroughly enjoy photo editing and general computer art and I was hoping to find out more about the process. I made the decision to go to Bethel University because many of my family members have attended and/or work here. I am not involved with any of the extracurriculars here at this school, but I was in band in high school. I have played the trumpet for about 6 years.
